Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden, the former World No.1 doubles pair, have announced that they will be splitting up after the ATP Finals 2024 in Turin. The Indo-Australian duo had a successful two-year partnership, but they faced challenges in their recent performances.

Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden’s Partnership

Bopanna and Ebden started their partnership in January 2023 and quickly made a mark on the tennis circuit. They won the Australian Open in 2024, with Bopanna becoming the oldest World No.1 and the oldest Grand Slam winner at the age of 44. They also clinched titles at the Miami Open and reached the semi-finals of the French Open. Their success helped them secure automatic qualification for the Paris Olympics.

Despite their early success, Bopanna and Ebden struggled in the latter part of the season. They had a challenging start to the ATP Finals, losing their first two matches against the Italian duo of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, and then to Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic. These defeats placed them at the bottom of the points table in the Bob Bryan Group.

In their final group match, Bopanna and Ebden faced Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz of Germany. They managed to secure a victory with a score of 7-5, 6-7 (6), 10-7 in a match tie-break. Bopanna reflected on their journey, acknowledging the ups and downs they experienced. He expressed gratitude for the successful two years and mentioned his excitement about finding a new partner for the upcoming season.

Both players are optimistic about their future careers. Bopanna is looking forward to finding a new partner and continuing to play in 2025. Ebden echoed similar sentiments, expressing satisfaction with their achievements and the decision to part ways on a high note.
