Robert Pires touts Gareth Bale to move to Arsenal come summer

Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ hero, Robert Pires has urged the Gunners to consider signing former Tottenham Hotspur star, Gareth Bale, in the summer. Pires told Bale to forget Spurs and instead move to their bitter rivals. The forward, who has fallen out of favor at Real Madrid has been touted for a return to the Premier League coming June.

Bale moved to the Bernabeu back in September 2013 after exploits in the Premier League with Tottenham impressed La Liga giants, Real Madrid. However, the Welshman has hit yet another injury setback in the Spanish capital and concerns over his future with the Blancos have been increasing considerably, with interim manager Santiago Solari preferring to choose 18-year old Vinicius Junior over the former Spurs ace.

Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea have continuously been linked with Bale, but Arsenal legend Pires believes the 29-year old winger should move to the Emirates. Undoubtedly Tottenham will be interested in re-signing their former player, but the former Gunners star believes the Wales international will be “very welcomed at Arsenal”.

“You can see that Bale is an unhappy player at the moment,” Pires added.

“There’s an assumption that he would go back to Tottenham, but I would encourage Arsenal to open the door to the Emirates for him.

“I hope the club tries to see if it is an option this summer.”
