Team India have recently registered a convincing win in the four-match Test series against England. The victory came on the back of mostly spinners and Rishabh Pant. And, he got the reward as well. He has achieved the career-best seventh position in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings after a rampant match-winning 101 in the fourth Test against England in Ahmedabad and helped India won by an innings and 25 runs as well as win the series 3-1 as well.

Rishabh Pant has moved up to seven places and shares the seventh position along with his teammate Rohit Sharma, who has jumped up one spot, and Henry Nicholls of New Zealand as well. Notably, his 747 rating points are the joint-15th highest by any India player, and also the highest by a full-time Test wicketkeeper from India too.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar, who also played a vital role for India in the last encounter, has gained 39 spots and currently placed in the 62nd position, on the back of his unbeaten 96 in the final Test in Ahmedabad.

On the other hand, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who was in sublime form throughout the series, surpassed New Zealand’s Neil Wagner to be in the second position among bowlers. He was also the Man of the Series against England and due to his eight wickets in the final Test match and stunning show with the bat earlier, he stands fourth among all-rounders, prior to Shakib Al Hasan as well.

Axar Patel, the debutant, who has claimed nine wickets and was in a prolific form in the entire series, has moved up to eight places to 30th with 552 rating points as well. Only two bowlers have achieved more points after their first three Test matches — former India spinner Narendra Hirwani (564) and Australia speedster Charlie Turner (553) who used to play way back. For England, Dan Lawrence has jumped up 47 places to 93rd in the ICC batsmen’s list after scoring 46 and 50 and speedster James Anderson has jumped up two places to reach fourth place after his 3 for 44 in Ahmedabad.

India and England are ready to take on each other in a five-match T20I series that will begin from March 12 in Ahmedabad. After that, they will play the ODI series in Pune.
