Rishabh Pant breaks silence on his omission from the World Cup squad

Rishabh Pant has been the talk of the town ever since the Indian team squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has been announced. While the fans expected the hard-hitting wicket-keeper batsman to make the cut in the 15 as the back up for MS Dhoni, the selectors went ahead with the more experienced Dinesh Karthik.

Pant visibly seems uncomfortable when the selection is mentioned and feels it is a major setback for him to not make it to the flight to England. However, he understands that every time things won’t be how one wants it to be and the key is to look forward and move on.

Pant, who roared with delight as he finished the game for the Delhi Capitals against Rajasthan Royals, as his critics have been harsh on him for lacking maturity and his inability to finish off games.

The chairman of selectors MSK Prasad also pointed out the maturity issue after the announcement of the squad. To which Pant feels that it is essential to give time to a person. He is 21 and he cannot think like a 30-year-old as one matures gradually and not overnight.

The wicket-keeper batsman from Delhi seems to have moved on from the agony of not being picked and is at the forefront of the Delhi Capitals campaign. The ultimate aim for him is to ensure his team crosses the line, be it in the Indian jersey or the Capitals one.

Rishabh Pant also is one of the standby’s for the World Cup, wants to contribute as much as he can to help his franchise claim the IPL trophy for the first time.
