The latest ICC Test rankings have brought significant changes for Indian cricketers, with Rishabh Pant making a remarkable comeback into the top 10, while Virat Kohli has slipped out of the top 10 for the first time in years

Rishabh Pant’s Triumphant Return

Rishabh Pant, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman, has re-entered the ICC Test batting rankings at the sixth position. This comeback is a result of his stellar performance in the recent Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai, where he scored a brilliant century in the second innings. Pant’s aggressive yet calculated batting style has always been a crowd-pleaser, and his latest innings was no exception. His 109-run knock was instrumental in India’s victory, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure and his importance to the team.

With 731 rating points, he has firmly established himself as one of the top batsmen in the world, and his presence in the middle order adds significant depth to the Indian batting lineup.

Virat Kohli’s Decline

In contrast, Virat Kohli, one of the modern greats of the game, has seen a significant drop in his rankings. Kohli has slipped to the 12th position after a disappointing performance in the same Test match against Bangladesh, where he managed to score only 6 and 17 in the two innings.

Other Notable Movements

The latest rankings also saw other significant movements among Indian players. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opener, has climbed to the fifth position after scoring a half-century in the first innings against Bangladesh. Jaiswal’s rise in the rankings reflects his consistent performances and his potential to become a mainstay in the Indian batting lineup.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, has also experienced a drop in his rankings, moving down to the 10th position with 716 rating points. Sharma’s recent performances have been below his usual high standards, but his leadership and batting prowess remain invaluable to the team.

Bowling Rankings

In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah continues to shine, maintaining his second position in the ICC Test bowling rankings with 854 points. Bumrah’s five-wicket haul in the Chennai Test, including a four-wicket burst, was crucial in India’s victory. Ravichandran Ashwin remains the top-ranked bowler with 871 points, thanks to his six-wicket haul in the same match.

Ravindra Jadeja has also moved up one spot to sixth in the bowling rankings. Jadeja’s all-round performance, including five wickets in the match and a crucial 86-run knock, highlights his importance to the team in both batting and bowling.
