Former Australian Two-time World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting shared his favourites to claim the title of the World Champions going into the tournament. The hosts England are the ones on whom Ponting is banking to conquer the trophy this time around.

He feels that the English side will benefit from the home advantage that they have along with the supreme form they are in. After winning the ODI series against Pakistan, England team has not lost any of their last eleven bilateral One-Day series.

Ponting however, feels that the two nations which will make things difficult for England in their pursuit of winning their first ever 50-overs world cup are the champions of the previous two editions, Australia and India.

Australia should not be taken lightly according to Ponting as they have a formidable side and with the return of David Warner and Steve Smith, the team looks complete. Moreover, the Aussies have a track-record in ICC events.

The inclusion of the two experienced players will surely benefit the team that was going through a little form slump lately feels Ponting.

Ponting, who also is Australia’s Assistant coach does not want to rule out teams such as South Africa, West Indies or Pakistan as he believes with the current edition’s format, any team can spoil some other team’s party.
