RECAP: FIFA Women’s World Cup Day 6: The hosts France secure another victory


On day 5 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 being played out in France, three exciting games of football were played. One of the games included the tournament’s host nation, France, while another was a match between two traditional footballing giant nations, i.e. Germany and Spain.

The first game of the evening was played between Nigeria and South Korea, with Nigeria winning it by 2-0. For Nigeria, the scoring was opened by an own goal by Kim Do-yeon in the 29th minute, whereas the 2nd goal was scored by Asisat Oshoala in the 75th minute.

The second game was a closely contest game between two of the footballing giants Germany and Spain. Germany’s Sara Dabritz scored the match’s solo goal in the 42nd minute.

The third game of the night was contested between France and Norway in Paris. The first goal was scored by Valerie Gauvin in the 46th minute, before the score was equalized due to an own goal from Wendie Renard in the 52nd minute. Euginie Le Sommer then scored the winner through a penalty kick in the 72nd minute of the game.
