Real prez Florentino Perez ponders Solari sack today

Real Madrid appear to be in absolute tatters following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, and the road ahead doesn’t look good for interim manager Santiago Solari as club president Florentino Perez could be sacking the Argentine today, as per reports in Spain. The club looks in much discontent following their recent run of form.

The Los Blancos crashed out of the Champions League last week following a 5-3 aggregate loss against Eredivisie side Ajax, while their Copa del Rey dreams were shattered by fierce rivals Barcelona, whom Real trail by 12 points in the La Liga.

With many deeming Real’s season over, president Perez hopes to make amends in the club, yet again, by axing Santiago Solari, who was brought in temporarily in place of former Spanish national team coach Julen Lopetegui.

Perez has voiced he wishes to bring former manager Zinedine Zidane back to the Bernabeu after the French international led them to three consecutive Champions League titles prior to this year.

Former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has been linked with a return to the La Liga, but nothing as yet seems to be certain.

What is certain is Solari’s sack, despite their 4-1 win at Valladolid yesterday, which Perez believes will be benefiting the club in the long run, as it will give the new coach some down time with the players as well as bring some contentment to the dressing room as key stars in Marcelo and Isco fell out with Solari, while Nacho just yesterday said their relationship was “difficult”.
