Virat Kohli-led Indian Team are all set to take on Australia in the four-match Test series in Adelaide, starting from December 17 where the first test will be played in the pink-ball. While India will try to retain the trophy, Australia would leave no stone unturned for the prestigious series as well.

It is also noteworthy that, Virat Kohli will play the first Test only and then he will return home to be with his wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child in January 2021. However, he is on the verge of another milestone and he has one Test in hand as well where Australia wouldn’t get the service of David Warner who has been ruled out from the first Test due to injury.

Meanwhile, Kohli, who didn’t score a century yet this year, could possibly end this year with a ton as this has been the first time since 2008 that Kohli didn’t score a hundred in a calendar year. On the other hand, if he manages another century in the first Test, he would also break former Australia captain Ricky Ponting’s massive record. It would be Virat Kohli’s 42nd international century as captain – and if he could manage, he will surpass Ponting to become the first captain with most international centuries as well.

However, both Ricky Ponting and Virat Kohli are currently at the top spot in the chart with 41 centuries to their name as well. Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith placed at third with 33 centuries whereas another key Australia player Steve Smith has 20 tons after his name and placed ta fourth as well. The fifth-place belongs to both former Australia captain Michael Clarke and former West Indies captain Brian Lara where they both have scored 19 centuries as well.

Notably, India won the 2018-19 Test series in Australia by 2-1 where Australia’s key players – David Warner and Steve Smith didn’t feature. They were banned at that time due to their involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal. However, this time they will be trying to win the trophy back as well.
