There has been alot of ups and downs for Team India in the past few series. From a stunning comeback against Australia in the ODI series, to whitewashing New Zealand 5-0 in T20, followed by the Kiwis avenging a 3-0 win in the last ODI. However, one player that has missed almost all of this action is Rishabh Pant. Getting concussion in the first Aussie ODI and letting KL Rahul discover his keeping talent, the youngster has been absent in the subsequent matches. Input comes from Pant’s IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, as co-owner Parth Jindal expresses his dissent over the topic.

Pant suffered a concussion in the first match of the Australia ODI series in January. He had to be subbed out as KL Rahul wore the gloves in the second innings. While Team India finally found a strong keeper behind the stumps after MS Dhoni’s hiatus and Pant’s flimsy performance, Parth Jindal is disappointed at BCCI on not seeing his DC superstar in the starting eleven.

On his official Twitter handle, the franchise owner expressed his strife, and also suggested the team management to play Pant for the India A team: And why carry @RishabhPant17 only for him to warm the bench? Surely he would have benefited from paying against New Zealand A or domestic cricket? To see a player as talented as him not play the 5th T20 and now the 3rd ODI makes no sense #Xfactor”

Other than ODIs, Pant’s last T20 match was in the Sri Lanka series in January, where Pant only made a single appearance in the second match, scoring only a single run.

However, its unlikely that Pant will see his return to the Men in Blue squad with the gloves on, as Rahul’s stunning performance behind the wicket has solidified his position as India’s first choice keeper.

Jindal’s demur on the team selection didn’t stop at Pant. He carried on about another newcomer to his franchise, Ravichandran Ashwin. The veteran Test all rounder made his last limited overs appearance back in 2017, and since has been dropped from India’s white ball series. He tweeted: Don’t know why @ashwinravi99 is not in this team! There seems to be an aversion to wicket takers! After white washing the kiwis in T20’s the Kiwis showing India that the semi final victory in the World Cup was no fluke. India needs wicket takers and players with X factor”
