The Indian cricket team has been the dominating with an upper hand in the T20 series against New Zealand away from home, with already securing two back to back wins in the first two matches of the series. Before Team India takes on the hosts tomorrow and try to extend their lead in the series, New Zealand superstar Tim Southee opens up about their opposition at hand, and there’s nothing but eulogy.

Despite a hectic schedule in between the Australia ODI series at home to flying to their immediate neighbours just two days before the first T20, India have shown peak finesse, and Tim Southee speaks the same.

“India have played well. They’re a great side and they’re full of world-class players. The first game is the one that slightly got away on us but we were certainly outplayed in the second game,” the Kiwi bowler spoke in a recent interview with IANS.

From chasing down a hefty target of 204 in the first game to restricting the star studded Black Caps batting squad to a flustering 132 in the next one, stunning performance on foreign grounds are now a walk in the park for Virat Kohli and the squad.

Southee continued: “We know it’s always tough when you play against India and they’re becoming a better and better side away from home as well. We know we need to be on top of our game if we need to beat India,”

The first two games of the 5 match series were both held in Eden Park stadium in Auckland, and the shift of ground to Seddon Park cricket ground in Hamilton tomorrow may turn out to be favourable for the hosts, believes Southee.

“Change of venue should help us. We need to win this game but I think it goes back to what we need to do as a group. Focus on how we prepare today and if we play the way that we know this team can play then I’m sure the result will take care of itself.”

The 31 year old had no luck against the swashbuckling Men in Blues batsmen in the first match, but secured the wickets of both India’s skipper and Rohit Sharma, but hopes that the squad has grasped some lessons from the losses to exert in the next match.

“The guys would have learnt from the first two games. The first one got away from us. We should have defended that. We can’t sort look over our shoulders. We need to look ahead to this game and hopefully keep the series alive going forward.” he added.
