Indian Premier League side, Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) recently announced that they will wear a special blue jersey in their upcoming match against Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) on May 3.
RCB reveals why they will don a blue jersey
COVID-19 cases has taken a hike in the country and it has raise concerns over last few weeks. Sunday reported its highest single-day tally of 3,689 Covid deaths.
The country also saw a slight dip in the daily numbers with 3,92,488 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore will sport the blue outfit to honour the frontline workers fighting day and night against the Covid-19 pandemic in India.
The RCB skipper Virat Kohli made the special announcement in a video message posted on the team’s social media account.
It has been also revealed that the signed-player jerseys from the game will be auctioned in order to raise money for India’s health infrastructure which has evidently collapsed amid the second wave of COVID-19.
He said: “What’s happening in our country with the spread of the COVID virus is deeply concerning. We as a franchise over the past week have had focused discussions on how we can help at the ground level and assist frontline workers in these dire times.”
It has been announced that the team has identified key areas in which immediate help is required in healthcare infrastructure. They are aiming to make a financial contribution to provide Oxygen support. The blue jerseys will also have important healthcare messages.

The new cases of COVID have been recorded to 1,95,57,457. The new cases recorded in the last 24 hours showed a slight decrease from Saturday when India hit a global record in its daily Covid-19 numbers with 4,01,993 fresh cases.
