Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of the remainder of England Test series

Team India have started their journey at home with a 227-run loss to England. Although the captain Virat Kohli has returned, the absence of the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made things worse. However, now the team has got a big blow as Jadeja has been ruled out of the upcoming three Tests, as per the report in Cricbuzz.

Notably, Ravindra Jadeja had sustained an injury in his thumb while batting in Sydney Test and didn’t feature in the Brisbane Test as well. However, he was also sent to the NCA for a further check-up after coming back to India from Australia. While it was believed that he would be fine for the last two Tests of the four-match Test series, his recovery rate has become slow than expected.

On the other hand, Indian playing XI for the upcoming second Test in Chennai could see a few changes as well where it is expected that Jharkhand left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem would be dropped after a poor show in the first Test against England. While his replacement would be decided by Friday, all-rounder Axar Patel, who is now match-fit, is likely to replace him in the second Test.

“Axar had a minor knee niggle and has already started batting at the nets. He is expected to start bowling during the next couple of days. He was always first choice to play the opening Test but it will depend on skipper Virat Kohli, head coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharath Arun,” a senior BCCI source told PTI on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, after the huge loss, India captain Virat Kohli said that lack of intensity and poor body language was one of the main reasons for their defeat. However, with this win, England have taken a lead of 1-0 in the four-match test series.

“Our body language and intensity was not up to the mark, second innings we were much better. We were better in the second half of the first innings with the bat, not the first four batters,” said Virat Kohli at the post-match presentation ceremony. “We have to understand the things that we have done decently in this game and the things that we haven’t and as a side we are always looking to improve. England were far more professional and consistent throughout the Test match than we were.”
