In a huge blow to the Punjab Kings, their skipper KL Rahul will have to undergo surgery after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis.
KL Rahul has been hospitalized after complaining of severe abdominal pain which was not resolved with medication.
The franchise released a statement where the franchise confirmed the medical status of their skipper.
“KL Rahul complained of severe abdominal pain last night and after not responding to medication, he was taken to the emergency room for further tests which revealed that he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. It will be resolved surgically and for safety measures, he has been transferred to the hospital for the same,” the statement read.
The unexpected blow will require Punjab Kings to consider their opening pair, leadership as well as duty behind the stumps with the gloves.

This casts serious doubts over the participation of Rahul for the remainder of the fixtures as the recovery time for appendicitis is slated to be around 3 weeks.
Punjab Kings next face the Delhi Capitals later this evening at Ahmedabad.
