The gulf in class between the two players was evident as Sindhu swiftly dispatched her lower-ranked opponent in just 29 minutes. Her aggressive play left Razzaq struggling to keep up.
After a couple of unforced errors, Sindhu quickly assessed the situation and took control of the proceedings. She raced to an 11-4 lead in the first game, leaving Razzaq no chance.
The second game followed a similar pattern. Sindhu claimed the first four points effortlessly, and although Razzaq bridged the gap briefly, it became a one-sided contest once again. Sindhu increased the gap to 10-3 and eventually sealed the tie with 14 match points.

The 10th-seeded Indian, a two-time Olympic medallist (silver in Rio 2016 and bronze in Tokyo 2020), will face World No. 75 Kristin Kuuba of Estonia in her second group match.
