Forbes released their list of highest paid athletes for 2017 in June and for the first time since it’s inception no female athlete had made the list.
However, Forbes released it’s Top 10 highest earning female athlete list and PV Sindhu has made it to the prestigious list. She was ranked at number 7 with estimated earnings of $8.5 Million or 60 Crore Rupees.
23-year-old Sindhu was the only athlete present in the Top 10 list. Ever since winning a Silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016, she has catapulted to the top and has received numerous sponsorships and is the brand ambassador for top companies, she now stands second on the leader-board of Indian sports-earners for each day of endorsements, behind only cricket captain Virat Kohli.
According to Financial Times, her rise in the badminton court has also enabled her rise in endorsement value. Sindhu’s endorsement deal is with companies like Reckitt Benckiser for its Moov pain reliever. Other brands that have signed her on since the medal include online fashion store Myntra, foods maker Apis and state-run lender Bank of Baroda.
The female rich list is topped by Tennis Star Serena Williams and basically, the whole top 10 list has tennis player with the exception of badminton star P.V. Sindhu and racing’s Danica Patrick.
