Indian badminton star PV Sindhu showcased her impressive form at the Malaysia Masters Super 500 tournament, securing a convincing victory in her opening match. Facing Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour, Sindhu dominated the court with a straight-game win—21-17, 21-16—in a match that lasted 46 minutes.
PV Sindhu’s return to form
Sindhu quickly established a 7-1 lead in the first game, but Gilmour fought back, levelling the score at 14-14 and 15-15. However, Sindhu regained control, securing six of the next eight points to claim the first game.
In the second game, Sindhu was even more dominant. She didn’t allow Gilmour any chance of a comeback, maintaining an early 3-0 lead. At the break, Sindhu led 11-6 and continued to extend her advantage, eventually earning eight match points. Sindhu, a former world champion, has faced a series of narrow losses since returning from a knee injury earlier this year. Her victory over Gilmour at the Malaysia Masters is a crucial confidence boost as she prepares for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
In the pre-quarters, Sindhu will face Korea’s Sim Yu Jin. Her consistent performance and expert gameplay make her a strong contender in the tournament.
