India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara assured that the team will be well equipped to face the pink ball against the England pacers and ruled out a repeat of the Adelaide performance. Team India will play only their third pink ball test with both of their previous exploits with the new format being highly contrasting.

Playing their first-ever pink ball test outside India, the team dissipated for just 36 in the second innings, marking their lowest ever score in the format.

The team proceeded to shake off the horrors of that game with a sensational series win despite the injury crisis, but they now once again face a familiar foe under the lights.

Pujara, who in a rare blip, was dismissed for a duck in that innings, claimed that India will not ponder upon their failures with the pink ball.

“It’s a different ball game in Australia. The ball was seaming around a lot, we had one bad session which led to disaster. Overall, in the first innings, we were still in a dominating position,”

He also outlined the difference in the conditions and the ball, which will be the SG ball rather than the Kookaburra ball which was employed in Australia.

“Here we’re playing in familiar conditions, the ball is also different. We’re very confident that we’ll put up a good show and we’ll not look back at what has happened in the past,” Pujara said ahead of the crucial third test

“Experience doesn’t matter a lot playing one-off pink ball Tests. It’s Test cricket and we’ll have similar game plans we had in the last match depending on how the pitch is.” Pujara concluded

The No.3 batsman has a vital phase ahead of him with the final two tests against England sealing their fate in the World test championships.

He was also picked up by the Chennai Super Kings in the recently concluded IPL auction/ Following the T20 extravaganza, he aims to complete a short county stint to prepare for the five-match test series against England overseas in the second half of the year.

“It’s good to be back in the IPL again. At the same time, when talking about county cricket, I still have time before the England series. There’s a window after the IPL gets over where I can play a few county games. I’ll take a call (on heading to England) when the IPL gets over or midway through the IPL.” Pujara said of his plans following the culmination of the England series
