Prithvi Shaw raced ahead after getting to his hundred. He needed just 22 balls to go from 100 to 150 and then achieved the second double-hundred of his List A career. Prithvi Shaw had hit 25 boundaries and 8 sixes and was going strong in the final 10 overs of the One-Day Cup match where Northamptonshire were batting first.

Prithvi Shaw signed to play for Northamptonshire in the County Championship and the One-Day Cup and became the fifth Indian cricketer to play in the 2022-23 domestic season in the UK after Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex), Ajinkya Rahane (Leicestershire), Arshdeep Singh (Kent) and Navdeep Saini (Worcestershire).

Prithvi Shaw scored a decent 34 runs off 35 balls in his first match against Gloucestershire. However, his debut was marked by an unusual dismissal. He attempted to pull a short delivery from Paul van Meekeren but lost his balance and accidentally kicked his own stumps, leading to a hit-wicket dismissal.

In his second match, Shaw continued to display his batting prowess, but Northamptonshire fell short of victory once again. Despite these initial setbacks, Shaw’s performances were promising, showcasing his potential for future matches in the tournament.

Prithvi Shaw, who was last picked for India for a T20I series in January 2023, has fallen out of favour of the selectors. Shaw had not made a big mark in the Duleep Trophy before heading to the UK. He had a prolific Ranji Trophy season though, scoring 595 runs in 6 matches, which included a 379 against Assam.
