Former Indian bowler Pragyan Ojha desires to see the bowling partnership of Jadeja and Ashwin to be included in the Indian team for the third Test against the Aussies, which is set to commence from 7th January at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

After a horrendous defeat in the first Test, Team India bounced back strong in the Boxing Day Test to make the scoreline equal and right now is aiming to take the lead as the third Test approaches.

In the meantime, retired Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha proposes India should retain the dup of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja- the two reliable veterans of the bowling squad to start in the 3rd match of the Test series in Sydney.

Ashwin and Jadeja have been phenomenal with the bowling: Pragyan Ojha

Ravichandran Ashwin secured a total of five scalps in the second Test across both innings, in addition to three pickings from Ravindra Jadeja. In a recent interview with Sports Today, Ojha pointed out how the pitch in Sydney is beneficial to the spin bowlers and the spinning duo of Ashwin-Jadeja will reap the benefits.

“Sydney has a track record of helping the spinners. I’m very sure that we shouldn’t change the combination of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja,” Ojha said in the interview.

Along with stupendous bowling performances, both Jadeja and Ashwin showcased appreciable spells with the bat as well. Jadeja landed his 15th red-ball half century in the first innings in Melbourne and Ashwin, as well, provided some runs in the tail-end of the innings.

“The way Jadeja batted [in Melbourne] and with Ashwin, we know he can bat,” the 34 year old went on, “these guys have also been phenomenal with the bowling. If one guy bowls tight, the other one picks up the wicket and vice-versa.”

“So, I think, this partnership is brilliant and if they continue it in overseas, that will be superb,” added Ojha.

Moreover, Ojha even cited the example of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh and how that legendary duo performed similarly in Tours, drawing parallels to the Ashwin-Jadeja combination of the current team.

“We have seen Anil Bhai and Bhajju Paa doing that for us in the past. Now, these two guys in overseas… I think, there is nothing more to ask for,” Ojha acknowledged.
