The Norway Chess Tournament 2024 is introducing a Women’s event for the first time, with an equal number of players, rounds, and the same format at the same playing hall. This initiative aims to provide women chess players with more opportunities and a comparable prize fund, fostering participation and giving a platform to aspiring female chess players.
The tournament, scheduled to take place from May 27 to June 7, will feature both reigning World Champions – Ding Liren (CHN) and Wenjun Ju (CHN), along with World no.1 – Magnus Carlsen (NOR). The event will be a double-round-robin tournament with Armageddon to resolve each draw.
