PKL Review: U Mumba and Bengal Warriors post closely fought wins

First game of the night saw U Mumba get the better of Gujarat before Bengal Warriors edged the hosts in a thriller.

U Mumba vs Gujarat Fortunegiants (31-25):

U Mumba’s solid all-round performance saw them get the better of Gujarat Fortunegiants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Sunday. U Mumba went on to beat Gujarat 31-25.

The star of tonight’s match was once again Abhishek Singh, who secured yet another Super 10 for U Mumba. 

The victory saw U Mumba move to the fourth place in the points table this strengthening their chances of making it to the playoffs.

The first half was a closely fought contest with the scores tied at 16-16. After U Mumba inflicted an early all-out on their opponents, Rohit Gulia picked up eight points in the half to bring Gujarat back into the tie.

Sunil Kumar’s injury in the second half meant that Gujarat’s momentum was disrupted. Abishek Singh took full advantage of the situation and ensured that his side came victorious.

Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Bengal Warriors (40-41):

In the second game for the night, Bengal Warriors beat the hosts by a single point to ensure that they stayed second in the table.

Bengal Warriors saw themselves win a thriller after Nilesh Salunke produced a successful tackle that saw the tie change dramatically from 33-38.

The loss thus means that Jaipur do not move further in the table and stay stationed at seventh place.

They will have to wait till Wednesday to get back to winning ways when they face Puneri Paltans.
