In the just finished Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli had a difficult time, which is unusual for him when playing Australia. Kohli had often trounced the Australian team in their prior meetings. A recent video of Australian captain Pat Cummins sledging Kohli has gone viral as he gets ready for the forthcoming ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy.
The viral video comes from an upcoming ICC Champions Trophy ad, even though Cummins did not sledge during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Cummins can be seen shaving, staring into a mirror, and making sledging comments about different cricket players in the footage.
As part of the ad, he takes a dig at Kohli, saying, “Hi Kohli, I’ve never seen you play so slowly before. You played very, very slowly.”
The series’ opening ODI between India and England will take place on Thursday at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.
On Sunday, India and England will play their second One-Day International at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The third and last game of the 50-over series will take place on February 12 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
With the exception of Harshit Rana taking Jasprit Bumrah’s place, India’s team for the three-match ODI match series is the same as it was for the ICC Champions Trophy.
Shubman Gill praised the Three Lions during the pre-game news conference, stating that they will be facing a “good side” in the forthcoming ODI series. The ODIs versus England are “very important” for them, he continued.
“I think we are playing against a good side. Three ODIs and we are not taking this as a practice for the Champions Trophy. I think this is a very important series for us. Every series is very important and we are looking to dominate and win this series like any other series,” Gill told reporters.
