Pakistan’s cricket gem: A third generation double centurion!

It is not an everyday occurrence that one witness double centuries spanning over different generations. In a regular Pakistan first-class domestic match, Shehzar Mohammad of Karachi Whites scored a massive 265 to follow the footsteps of his grandfather, father, uncles and two granduncles in scoring a double hundred in first-class cricket.

Shehzar Mohammad is the grandson of the legendary Pakistan batsman Hanif Mohammad who represented the nation in 49 tests and has a staggering first-class high score of 499.

Hanif’s brothers Sadiq and Mushtaq were also active in the sport with both of them achieving double centuries in their career.

The 26-year-old’s father too made his mark in cricket after appearing in 45 tests and 63 ODI’s. Shehzar’s knock comprised of 30 fours and a six while facing 464 balls in total.

Shehzar’s father, Shoaib Mohammad expressed his delight over the 26-year-old’s batting display to Geo TV. He said:

“This is a great moment for everyone in Mohammad family. This shows that cricket runs in our blood. “If Hanif sahab were alive today, he would have been very proud.”
