Together, Jamieson and Duffy take seven wickets to give New Zealand the win.
New Zealand 92 for 1 (Seifert 44, Allen 29*) beat Pakistan 91 (Khushdil 32, Duffy 4-14, Jamieson 3-8) by nine wickets
The hosts were bowled for 92 after chasing 135 in Christchurch during Pakistan’s fifth Twenty20 International on their tour of New Zealand last year. After Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy destroyed a revamped Pakistani team, that was a winning total for New Zealand in the opening Twenty20 International of this five-match series.
Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam’s dismissal suggested that Pakistan was attempting to venture outside of their T20 cricket comfort zone, which is generally excellent. However, they were swept out for 91 on Sunday, which was their lowest total in New Zealand and their fifth-lowest in the format, demonstrating the risks that accompany it.
On a doubleheader day in Christchurch, the Black Caps followed the White Ferns in claiming sweeping triumphs. Jamieson and Duffy shared seven wickets between them, and the bounce they were able to provide was too much for the Pakistani batsmen to handle.
