Amid a hectic 2021 schedule, Olympics is the bullseye for shuttler Prannoy H.S.


Prannoy H.S., the Indian Shuttler has his eyes set on the qualification for next year’s Tokyo Olympics. The former National Champion is concentrating on his fitness ahead of the huge event.

Prannoy H.S. wants improvement of his off-court fitness, hires personal trainer

The former World No.8 has started his preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games. He is also keeping an eye on his off-court fitness as there is a hectic season ahead.

Prannoy has revealed the new fitness coach to be Amal Manohar, who has previously worked with cricketer Sanju Samson while the IPL was underway.

It is being reported that the shuttler is following a tough fitness regime under the guide of the new expert.

The main motives are to improve the core strength and endurance power, while also focussing on cardiovascular exercises, gym work ad beach training.

On the upcoming busy schedule, the 28-year-old said, “It is going to be a long season with lot of tournaments lined up next year, including the Olympics. There is little scope to work on my fitness once the season begins.

Prannoy H.S: I am feeling really good about my fitness

Prannoy would join Gopichand’s academy in the upcoming week as he will have little amount of time left in hand once the new season commences.

He said, “I will be joining the camp next week in Hyderabad and the focus there will be mostly on improving my game.

He reflected on the work experience with Manohar as he said, “So it is important for me to work on my fitness while I am here in Thiruvananthapuram. Working with Amal was great and I am feeling really good about my fitness.”

Prannoy had kept a close eye on the recent Danish Open and observed the protocols. He is ready to face the challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic

“The pandemic has thrown up fresh challenges for players and organisers. Now, after the Danish Open we know what the protocol is and we are mentally prepared,” the shuttler said.

The Tokyo Olympics is set to take place at Japan National Stadium and will start from July 23, 2021, continue till August 8, 2021
