Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set for a permanent position as the manager of Manchester United. It is just a matter of a few days as to when the club will confirm it officially.
After Jose Mourinho was sacked, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was brought in from Norwegian club Molde last December. The Norwegian manager boasts a wonderful track record of 14 wins in 18 games(2 draws and 2 losses).
As per Mirror Football, Solskjaer is the ‘only contender’ for the managerial post. The rumour is that United officials have greenlit the proposition.
In order to appoint Solskjaer, United will be bound to pay Molde a compensation package of 10million euros approx to terminate his contract. It would still be lesser, however, than they have to dish out if they want to buy out Mauricio Pochettino’s contract at Tottenham. The Argentinian manager is set to stay at the club and has reportedly started planning for next season’s transfers as well.
On the other hand, after miraculously winning against PSG in the second-leg of the Champions League and advancing to the quarter-finals, the Manchester United board is convinced that Solskjaer is their man. But apart from their performance in the CL, Ole has to make sure that the club secures a top-4 finish in the PL.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered his second loss and 1st Premier League loss at the hands of Arsenal last Sunday. They will face the Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday and then host them in the Premier League on March 30.
