The state government of Odisha has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Indian hockey by extending its sponsorship deal with Hockey India for an additional three years, until 2036. This move underscores Odisha’s dedication to the sport and its pivotal role in uplifting hockey across the nation.
Odisha has been the official sponsor of India’s national hockey teams across genders and age levels since 2018. This consistent backing has significantly contributed to the growth and development of hockey in the country.
Hockey India’s sponsorship extension
The extension of sponsorship was solidified during a high-level meeting attended by key stakeholders. Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey, Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh, Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, and Commissioner-Cum-Secretary Shri R. Vineel Krishna were all part of this crucial decision-making process.

The previous agreement was announced in 2023 and was expected to run till 2033. The sponsorship extension aligns with Odisha’s centenary year of statehood, symbolically chosen to coincide with 2036. By then, Odisha will have celebrated a century of its separate state existence.
