The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a platform for young talents to shine, and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Rajat Patidar is no exception. While Virat Kohli has been the face of RCB for years, it’s Patidar who is currently driving the team’s playoff hopes.
Patidar’s performances have been instrumental in keeping RCB’s playoff dreams alive. Despite setting a modest target of 188 runs in a crucial match against Delhi Capitals, Patidar’s blazing half-century and RCB’s bowlers dismantled the lacklustre Delhi Capitals lineup, restricting them to just 140 runs in 19.1 overs. This victory not only kept RCB in contention for a playoff spot but also lifted them to the fifth spot on the points table.
Rajat Patidar’s redemption in IPL 2024
Patidar’s journey in IPL 2024 has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride. After a torrid Test series against England earlier this year, where he managed to score only 63 runs across six innings, Patidar has bounced back in the IPL. His mantra of staying in the present and doing the best for the team has served him exceptionally well.
Patidar’s strength against spinners has been a revelation this season. He has scored 182 runs from 81 balls against spin, with a strike rate of 224, hitting 20 sixes and five fours. His ability to hit big against spinners has filled the void left by Glenn Maxwell’s absence due to poor form.
All five of Patidar’s fifties this season have come from the No. 4 slot in a batting order that has finally found its rhythm. His consistent performances have not only helped RCB stay in the playoff race but have also showcased his strength and potential.
Rajat Patidar is 6 hitting Machine, you feed him the spinners & the ball will land out of the ground.
The kind of track record RCB management is having. He might not be retained for being over qualified
He seems like batting with cheat code at the moment.pic.twitter.com/XPcnLNIx9b

Patidar’s performances have been consistent throughout the season, and he has proven to be a reliable middle-order batsman for RCB. His ability to score quickly and under pressure has been a significant factor in RCB’s success this season.
While Virat Kohli’s contributions to RCB cannot be understated, it’s Rajat Patidar who is currently the driving force behind RCB’s playoff hopes. His performances have not only helped RCB stay in the playoff race but have also shown that he is a player to watch out for in the future.
