Ankushita Boro’s valiant effort goes in vain
The quarterfinals were held on May 31, 2024. Boro faced Agnes Alexiusson of Sweden, a former European Games bronze medalist. The match was a test of skill, strength, and strategy. Both boxers gave their best, making it an exciting event for the spectators.
Boro started the match slowly but adapted towards the end of the first round. She effectively used straight jabs, convincing one judge of her prowess. However, she was trailing 1-4 after the first round.
In the second round, Boro made a blistering start. She used a combination of left jab and right cross, displaying her boxing skills. Her performance was electric, and Alexiusson struggled to keep up.
The third round saw both boxers on equal footing. Boro made early gains, but Alexiusson ended the bout stronger, taking the split decision win. Despite her best efforts, Boro lost to Alexiusson with a score of 2-3.

Boro’s defeat in the quarterfinals ended India’s quest for booking a quota in the women’s 60kg category. However, her performance in the tournament was commendable. She fought hard and showcased her talent on an international platform.
