Neymar lashes out at decision to award Man Utd ‘non-existent’ penalty

Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the UEFA Champions League last night after a VAR review awarded Manchester United the decisive penalty at the end of a 3-1 game stoppage time, and a dewy eyed Neymar didn’t take too long to make his thoughts known loud and clear on the ‘non-existent’ aforementioned penalty.

United striker Romelu Lukaku put the visitors ahead in just the second minute of the game. 10 minutes later Juan Bernat converted a Kylian Mbappe cross to go level with the Premier League side until Lukaku slotted home another one at the 30 minute mark.

Controversy sparked when the ball struck Presnel Kimpembe’s arm early in the 10 minute stoppage time inside the box, going out of play consequentially. But no action was taken except award PSG with a corner kick, until the decision was overturned when referee Damir Skomina pointed to the penalty spot after a VAR review of the incident.

England international Marcus Rashford did no mistake in netting it past the experience of Gianluigi Buffon 4 minutes after the 90 minute mark, in turn going level 3-3 on aggregate, and eventually through to the quarters on away goals.

An injured Neymar, who missed out not only this game but also the first leg, watched in awe from the stands as the events unfolded. The Brazil international criticized the overturned decision.

Neymar claimed the penalty “doesn’t exist”.

He went on to add:

“It’s a disgrace. Four guys who know nothing about football watch a slow-motion replay in front of the television.”

Neymar went off in a foul mouthed rant in an Instagram story. As per Bleacher Report Football, a translation of his story concluded with-

“Ah… go f*** yourselves”.

This is the third consecutive time the French champions have crashed out of Europe’s elitemost competition in the Round of 16.
