KL Rahul has led from the front in the first three games of this year’s IPL.

Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul showcased his batting talent when he hammered an unbeaten 132 runs in 69 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore last week. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman carried in on the same vein of form in Punjab’s next game against Rajasthan Royals as he went on to slam another 69 runs and struck a 183-run partnership with Mayank Agarwal for the opening wicket.

He has so far scored 222 runs in three matches, including one hundred and a half-century for Kings XI and sits at the top of the charts in the list of leading run-scorers.

“As one can recollect we went very strong for KL Rahul in the auctions. Show me a more versatile player in Indian cricket at the moment. He can open, he can go down to number four, and he can go down to number six. At every point of that chain of the 11, to add he is also a wicketkeeper”, Wadia said.

Wadia further added that KL Rahul is a future captain for India. “He is a captain in the making. I have watched Virat, thinking like a captain and when you’re a wicket keeper you automatically think a lot, so it’s going to be amazing. Our role is just to encourage them and give them more confidence,” he added.

The Kings XI co-owner further revealed that a lot of people doubted if the IPL 2020 would ever take place amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I was not one of them, I knew all along that it would happen. I had full faith in the BCCI and the IPL that it would happen. I think there was a lot of to and fro with the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well,” he said.
Kings XI have won one game out of the three they have played so far in the tournament. In their next match, they will face Mumbai Indians on Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
Rahul will be looking to cement his spot for the next year’s T20 World Cup.
KL Rahul remained in a scintillating form before all the cricketing activities in the world were stopped. The 28-year old enjoyed ah highly successful white-ball tour of New Zealand where he bagged the man of the series award in the five-match T20 series.
