Hayward scored 30 points, and Kyrie Irving added 19 points and 11 assists for the Celtics. The Warriors were without Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry top-scored for them with 23 points.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 41 points as the Timberwolves won 131-120 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Russell Westbrook and Paul George combined for 63 points, but the Thunder fell short in the end. Jeff Teague supplemented Towns with 16 points and 12 assists.
The Houston Rockets defeated the Toronto Raptors 107-95 behind a strong defensive performance. James Harden scored 35 points for Houston. Kawhi Leonard top-scored for the Raptors with 26.
Despite Joel Embiid absence, the 76ers won 114-106 against the Magic. J. J. Redick scored 26 for Philadelphia, and Evan Fournier had 25 for Orlando. Bojan Bogdanovic’s 27 points led the Pacers past the Chicago Bulls. Zach LaVine scored 27 for the struggling Bulls.
The Memphis Grizzlies won against the Portland Trail Blazers, as Mike Conley Jr. scored 40 points. Damian Lillard and C. J. McCollum combined for 51 points for the Blazers. It was Conley’s career high in points, and it enabled the Grizzlies to upset Portland.
