The Hornets fell just short in their comeback, and were not helped by a late controversial call.
Playing without Anthony Davis, the Pelicans beat the Lakers 128-115. Jrue Holiday scored 27 points for them, which further derailed the playoff push for the Lakers. Meanwhile, Ish Smith scored 22 off the bench as the Pistons beat the Heat 119-98.
Buddy Hield’s 34 propelled the Kings past the Thunder, and Giannis Antenokounmpo led the Bucks to victory against the Timberwolves. Meanwhile, the Rockets topped the Warriors without James Harden, and the Jazz defeated the Mavericks with ease.
