National boxing camps in full motion ahead of the upcoming Asian Youth and Junior championships

The national boxing camps, currently located in the cities of Rohtak in Haryana and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, are in full fledged motion since their inauguration on 8th February and will last until 28th February, ahead of the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships which will commence from 27th February, just a day before the end of the national camp and will last until 15th March in Amman, Jordan.

A total of 98 youth and junior pugilists from the country are currently undergoing training at the camps, which include all four categories- youth men and women as well as junior boys and girls, along with the presence of coaching and support staff.

The camps were an initiative from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) soon after the recommencement of the camps for the senior boxers, as the governing body aimed to make sure that the youth and junior athletes are also getting the crucial training before the coveted overseas event. At the 2021 edition of the ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships, the Indian boxers clinched a total of 39 medals which included 14 gold.

The camps are being conducted at the two SAI National Centre of Excellence which are located in Rohtak and Bhopal. The Center in Rohtak is conducting camp for junior boys and girls along with youth women, with 24, 25, and 24 boxers from each category respectively. Meanwhile, the youth men camp in Bhopal is consisting of 25 boxers.
