Mushfiqur Rahim, the stalwart of Bangladesh cricket, has etched his name in the annals of cricket history by becoming the nation’s all-time highest run-scorer in international cricket. This remarkable achievement came during the first Test against India at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 21, 2024.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s journey in international cricket began in 2005 when he made his Test debut against England. Over the years, he has been a linchpin for Bangladesh, showcasing his prowess with the bat and his skills behind the stumps. His dedication, resilience, and consistent performances have made him one of the most respected cricketers in the world.

Achieving the Milestone

Rahim surpassed Tamim Iqbal, who previously held the record for the most runs scored by a Bangladeshi in international cricket. Tamim’s tally stood at 15,192 runs, a record that seemed insurmountable until Rahim’s recent performances. Mushfiqur achieved this milestone during the second innings of the first Test against India, scoring 13 runs from 11 balls before being dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin.

As of September 21, 2024, Mushfiqur Rahim has amassed 15,205 runs in 464 international matches, boasting an average of 34.47 and a strike rate of 65.23. His impressive record includes 20 centuries and 82 half-centuries, highlighting his consistency and ability to perform under pressure.
