In a tragic turn of events, promising young cricketer Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan, has sustained a serious neck injury following a road accident. This unfortunate incident has ruled him out of the upcoming Irani Cup, dealing a significant blow to his burgeoning cricket career.
Musheer Khan’s Accident
The accident occurred on the Purvanchal Expressway near Lucknow while Musheer was travelling from Azamgarh to Lucknow with his father, Naushad Khan. Their car reportedly hit a divider and overturned multiple times. Musheer, who was seated in the front, bore the brunt of the impact, resulting in a neck fracture. His father escaped with minor injuries.
Musheer was immediately rushed to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, where he was diagnosed with a neck fracture. Dr. Dharmendra Singh, Director of the Department of Orthopedics at Medanta, confirmed that Musheer is stable but will require extensive treatment and rehabilitation. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are closely monitoring his condition and have assured him that he will receive the best possible care.
Musheer Khan, at just 19 years old, has been one of the most exciting prospects in Indian domestic cricket. Known for his all-round capabilities, he has already made significant contributions in red-ball cricket, including a standout performance in the Duleep Trophy where he scored 181 runs for India B against India A.
