Team Mumbai created history during their bout against Puducherry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament. Riding on Prithvi Shaw’s unbeaten historic double century and Suryakumar Yadav’s quickfire ton, Mumbai were able to notch the highest List-A in India by scoring 457-4 in their 50 overs.

Prithvi Shaw, leading the team for the first time in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, opened the batting alongside Yahsasvi Jaiswal after losing the toss.

The skipper was ablaze right from the word go at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Jaiswal departed after scoring just 10 runs, but the team were cruising at almost 10 an over in the powerplay.

Aditya Tare chipped in with a fifty as he stood by Shaw in a 153-run partnership for the second wicket. During the partnership, Shaw brought up his ton in just the nineteenth over in 65 balls.

Following the dismissal of the wicket-keeper batsman, Suryakumar Yadav joined Shaw in the middle. The duo punished the bowlers with Yadav recording his century in just 50 balls.

The 201-run stand for the third wicket came to an end with the wicket of Yadav, who departed after a brutal innings of 133 off just 58 balls. His innings included 22 fours and 4 sixes.

Shaw remained unbeaten on 227, breaking the record for the highest Individual score in Vijay Hazare trophy. His knock constituted 31 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 150. He also becomes only the fourth Indian to register a double ton in List-A cricket.

The 457 runs scored in the innings by Mumbai also became the highest List A score in India.

It was a horrid day out in the middle for the fielding side as three bowlers proceeded to have an economy in excess of 10 runs per over.
