Hardik Pandya recollects his initial journey in Mumbai

Pandya reminisced about celebrating India’s 2007 World Cup win on the streets as a fan. Now, he finds himself on the team bus, part of the victorious squad. For him, this journey is surreal and deeply meaningful. Mumbai holds a special place in his heart, as it’s where his cricketing journey began.

During IPL 2024, Pandya faced a tough crowd. Replacing Rohit Sharma as the Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper, he was booed and jeered. However, the felicitation ceremony for Team India after the T20 World Cup victory was a different story. The entire crowd chanted his name, welcoming him warmly. Pandya expressed gratitude to the Mumbai fans for their unwavering support.

“I’ve been very fortunate enough to be part of something so amazing which I’ll remember for the rest of my life and at the same point of time, everyone in this team. That’s what we all work hard for. We work hard to be in this kind of situation, this kind of atmosphere, and the happiness we can provide. Can’t be more happy than finishing our all the formalities and all the celebrations in Mumbai. Mumbai didn’t disappoint. Mumbai was the best. Aamchi Mumbai!,” he added.

Being part of something amazing, and working hard to create joy and happiness for fans—this is what Pandya cherishes. Winning back the love of Mumbai, where his journey started, feels like an incredible blessing. He acknowledges that there’s no greater pleasure than bringing the cup home to so many hearts.
