Mumbai City FC Signs Greek Striker Nikolaos Karelis

ISL franchise Mumbai City FC has made an exciting addition to its squad by signing Greek striker Nikolaos Karelis on a one-year contract until the end of the 2024-25 season. Karelis began his football journey with Greek side Ergotelis at the tender age of 16. His debut during the 2007–08 Greek Super League season made him the youngest player ever fielded for Ergotelis in a league match.

He has showcased his skills extensively for Greek clubs like Panathinaikos, PAOK, and most recently, Panetolikos, where he even captained the team.

Beyond Greece, Karelis has played in other top European leagues, including stints with Genk (Belgian Jupiler Pro League), ADO Den Haag (Netherlands Eredivisie), Brentford (English Championship), and Amkar Perm (Russian Premier League).

Karelis has left his mark in the UEFA Europa League group stages, featuring for both Panathinaikos and Genk. In 12 appearances, he scored an impressive four goals.

Over his club career spanning 361 games, Karelis has been known for his all-round game. He has contributed significantly in the final third, scoring 103 goals and providing 29 assists.

Before representing the Greece Senior National Team, Karelis regularly played and scored for the national youth teams, netting 15 goals in 43 appearances. In his full international debut with the senior team, he scored against Finland during the UEFA Euro 2016 Qualifiers.
