The debate over Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s future has not stopped even after India’s loss to New Zealand in the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup 2019, who ultimately gave away the title to host England on Sunday at Lords.

Dhoni has kept everyone guessing but the selectors may have already decided against making Dhoni an automatic pick in the Indian limited overs team, according to Times of India.

With more people now supporting the belief that Mahi must make way for others, there is no doubt that the former skipper may call it a day anytime soon. It is also known that the chief selector of the Indian Cricket team MSK Prasad will soon talk to the former captain.

As per report by the Times of India, a source informs:

” We’re surprised that he’s not done it so far. There are youngsters like Rishabh Pant waiting to grab their chances. As we saw in the World Cup, Dhoni isn’t the same batsman anymore. Despite coming in at No.6 or 7, he was struggling to force the pace and it was hurting the team.”

The sources also ruled out Dhoni’s selection for the tour of West Indies as he was not an automatic pick anymore.

Despite the rumours of him retiring, it is believed that there was no communication between the former captain and the selection panel during the world cup. Someone as big as MS Dhoni has been questioned time and again in the past but it is yet to be seen, whether there’s any truth to the speculations of him hanging his boots or just rumors flying around.
