Even though the speculations of Mahendra Singh Dhoni retiring after the Cricket World Cup was on a high but the former Indian Captain and veteran wicket-keeper is not willing to take retirement.
Recently the veteran had marked himself unavailable for the West Indies tour as he is going to serve the Indian Territorial Army for the next two months.
The Chief Selector MSK Prasad had a discussion with the veteran . MSD was told that he isn’t in the scheme of things anymore and the selectors want to go with the youngsters and groom them for the next year’s World T20.
Meanwhile Prasad assured that it would be the Indian Legend who will take the call for his future and also told to the media that ” A legend like him(MS Dhoni) would know when to hang his boots”.
It’s also very clear that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is no more the first choice wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian team as the Indian selection committee wants to give chances to young wicket-keepers like Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat.
MSK Prasad also heaped praise for the 21-year old Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant for his knock of 32 when the Indian team were in a spot of bother chasing 240 in the semi-finals against New Zealand, Prasad also gave a strong indication that Pant is going to be their first choice keeper in one-day cricket and T20I’s.
