The MotoGP calendar has seen another significant change with the postponement of the Indian Grand Prix, also known as MotoGP Bharat, to 2025. This decision was made due to unsuitable weather conditions expected in Uttar Pradesh during the initially scheduled time in September.
No MotoGP Bharat in 2024
The race, which was set to be the 16th event on the 2024 MotoGP calendar, was eagerly anticipated by fans worldwide. However, forecasts predicted above-average monsoon conditions in Uttar Pradesh during September. These conditions would not only have been challenging for the riders but also for the marshals and spectators. The spot initially reserved for the Indian GP will now be filled by the inaugural Kazakhstan Grand Prix.
Following advice from the Government of Uttar Pradesh as the state continues its long-term commitment to MotoGP, the sport will return to Buddh International Circuit in March 2025, when weather conditions are expected to be optimal for spectators and riders alike.
“It was mutually decided to shift the race to March next year. We are looking at the first or second week of March. All the stakeholders including Dorna agreed that the September weather is not conducive for the race and it is tough on the riders and marshals as experienced last year,” Fairstreet Sports CEO Pushkar Nath Srivastava told PTI.

The Kazakhstan Grand Prix, which was initially scheduled for June, was also postponed due to severe weather and flooding across Central Asia. Now, rescheduled for September 20th to 22nd, the Kazakhstan Grand Prix marks the opening race of the Asian leg of the 2024 MotoGP calendar
The inaugural MotoGP Grand Prix of India had made waves in motorsport history, attracting over a hundred thousand fervent spectators from India and worldwide. The event marked India’s notable re-entry into the global MotoSport arena. Therefore, the anticipation for the next edition of the race remains high despite the postponement.
