Boxing sensation Floyd Mayweather’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of their three children was found dead in her California residence. Josie Harris was found unresponsive in her car which was right outside her home according to law enforcement.
The autopsy results, which will shed more light on the unfortunate incident is pending according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. As per the officials, early signs show that there was no foul play involved.
The forty-year-old had a troubled history with Mayweather after having accused him of abusing multiple times. The boxer also faced some time behind the bars in 2012 after being charged with an incident where Harris claimed that he barged into her Las Vegas home and assaulted her right in front of the couple’s children.
Mayweather, however, claimed that he was only accused because of his image. He had said back in 2015: I’m black. I’m rich. And I’m outspoken,” “Those are three strikes right there.”
The boxer although added that he had laid his hands onto her. He stated:
Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs?” he continued. “Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.”
Post the interview, Harris handed a hefty 20 million dollar lawsuit on the prolific boxer. The lawsuit was still in progress after Mayweather appealed it. A trial date was set for December.
The odds scaled in favour of Harris after Koraun, Mayweather’s son, who was 10 at the time of the incident, claimed that he saw his father hitting Harris.
Floyd Mayweather is yet to comment so far on the unfortunate incident.
The department confirmed that there will be an active investigation into Harris’ death.
