Mohun Bagan, the I-League Champions of 2019/20 season are set to be handed the league trophy in a presentation ceremony. It would be held on Sunday, October 18 at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kolkata.

Mohun Bagan would be presented the I-League trophy as the presentation ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fans will certainly feel joyous for the much-awaited ceremony.

Shri Aroop Biswas, Hon’ble Minister of PWD, Youth Services and Sports would be the Chief Guest while Mr Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League would be present as well on behalf of the All India Football Federation(AIFF).

The club’s official website read, “The Trophy would be handed over to players and coaches who are available in Kolkata in presence of our Club President Shri Swapan Sadhan Bose and the entire Executive Committee members.”

After the commencement of the event, the champion song would be played followed by an audio-visual presentation of Mohun Bagan’s I-League journey for 2019-20 season.

The club’s website also mentioned that they will organise a live Zoom call for the players and coaches who would not be able to turn up at the event amid the pandemic. It would be done so that they can be part of a historic moment and cherish the memorable moment.

They have emphasised on maintaining the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols as well. The website read, ” We had to shift the event to a closed confined place to adhere to the covid protocol guidelines.”

Keeping the current circumstances in the mind, they have also planned an idea in order to help fans being part of the moment.

It continued, “Considering the emotions of our millions of supporters we would be streaming the entire ceremony live on our social media handles for them to relish the moment they all have been waiting for.”

A procession is also organised from Hotel Hyatt Regency to Mohun Bagan Athletic Club. The trophy would be kept in a glass cascade in an open Jeep to bring it to the club.

‘The Mariners’ finished the I-League 2019/20 with 39 points that is 16 points clear from their long rivals, East Bengal. The league win helped them reach the 2021 AFC Cup group stage.
