Brother reveals how Mohammed Siraj wants to tribute their late father in Australia

Speedster Mohammed Siraj, who is currently in Australia with the Indian squad for the upcoming four-match Test series, lost his father Mohammed Ghouse on Friday. Ghouse aged only 53 when he breathed his last and died due to a lung ailment. While belonging from a humble background, Ghouse always supported Mohammed Siraj as a cricketer and also backed his son’s dream with his limited resources.

Despite playing in the limited-overs, this is for the first time he earned the maiden Test call-up for the tour of Australia which is certainly a memorable moment the youngster.  Moreover, it was his father’s dream to see the youngster playing for India. Meanwhile, his brother Mohammed Ismail has shared how the bond was with Siraj and his father. Losing his father recently has left the speedster completely shattered.

“He was very close to my father. Whenever he calls now, he just cries. He doesn’t say anything. He says one-word, ‘Abbu’ and then cries. May God give him strength. This is all I want to say. I am also heartbroken, but I have my family and relatives with me. Siraj is totally shattered by this news. He is alone. I keep calling him to give him support,” Ismail told Times of India.

Ismail further added that Siraj wants to win the Test series for his late father as he has promised to do well in the upcoming series. “Siraj has promised that he will do well in the series and pay a fitting tribute to our father. He wants to win the series for him,” Ismail shared.

The speedster has recently played in the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore where he claimed 11 wickets from nine matches. He has so far played one ODI and three T20Is for India where he has taken three wickets.

Meanwhile, the Indian team is currently undergoing the 14-day quarantine period in Australia and they have been training in Sydney for the upcoming series that includes three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Tests. The first ODI will take place on November 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
