The ICC fined Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj 20% of his match fee for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. This rule pertains to using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal. The incident occurred on day two of the match when Siraj gave Australian batter Travis Head an aggressive send-off following an exchange of words after dismissing him.

Head, who had scored a brilliant 140 off 141 balls, was also sanctioned by the ICC for breaching Article 2.13, which relates to the abuse of a player, player support personnel, umpire, or match referee during an international match. However, he escaped a fine. Both players received one demerit point each on their disciplinary records, marking their first offence in the last 24 months.

The confrontation led to boos from the Adelaide crowd, and Head later claimed he had merely said “well bowled” to Siraj, expressing disappointment at the bowler’s reaction. Siraj, however, disputed this claim, asserting that Head had abused him. Both players admitted their offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle.
