Mohammad Shami becomes third Indian bowler in top 10 of ICC test bowling rankings

Recent times have been really great for Team India’s pacer Mohammad Shami. 13 test wickets against South Africa, 7 versus Bangladesh. Praise from fans and pundits, special compliment from the legendary Ian Bishop. it just doesn’t end there, because Shami has just entered into the list of top 10 ICC test bowlers.

The International Cricket Council released the top 10 list of batsmen and bowlers in test cricket yesterday on their official Twitter, and while the Men in Blues skipper Virat Kohli has topped the list for the hitters, Shami has climbed onto secure the 10th spot in the list with a score of 771.

The Aussie vice captain Pat Cummins is topping the bowlers chart with 900 points, followed by the Protean Kagiso Rabada with 839 points. Despite missing out on the bangladesh and South Africa series, Bumrah is still holding the 5th rank with 794 points. Shami is trailing just one point and one spot behind Ashwin.

Recently, Windies legend Ian Bishop praised the Indian fast bowlers, especially mentioning Shami.

“I couldn’t have predicted that. And (Mohammed) Shami has taken his game to another level.” the 52 year old told ESPNCricinfo.

Shami has 279 test caps, and made his debut in the format against West Indies on 21st of November 2013.
