Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif is eagerly anticipating an India vs Pakistan final in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be held in the USA and the West Indies. The arch-rivals have been placed in the same group for the mega event, and their clash is set for Sunday, June 9 at the newly built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Mohammad Kailf on India vs Pakistan final in T20 World Cup
Despite the possibility of facing each other during the knockout stages, Kaif remains optimistic about witnessing this intense rivalry in the summit clash of the T20 extravaganza. He acknowledges that New Zealand often surprises everyone and could secure a top-four spot.
Additionally, he considers the West Indies a formidable side, especially when playing at home. Kaif also mentions Australia or Pakistan as potential contenders. If India meets Pakistan in the semifinals or finals, it will undoubtedly be a thrilling encounter, igniting memories of their historic clashes.
“Somehow New Zealand find their way to be in the top four, in the ICC events you can’t write them off so add New Zealand. I think West Indies since they’re playing at their home so at home they might be a dangerous side. I don’t know maybe Australia or Pakistan of them can come through. If Pakistan comes then if we meet them in the semis of finals then it will be great, India vs Pakistan finals why not,” Kaif said.
India holds the upper hand over Pakistan in T20 World Cup history, having beaten them six out of seven times. Their iconic final in the inaugural 2007 edition, where India emerged victorious by five runs, remains etched in cricket folklore.

Kaif believes that India’s current squad boasts a stronger bowling attack, with spinners like Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja complementing the experienced fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah’s presence could be a game-changer in this World Cup.
“We have a much better bowling attack compared to last time, we had Chahal but we couldn’t play him in the first XI. This year we have Kuldeep Yadav, we have Axar Patel, Jadeja, good spinners. All very experienced and wicket-takers they can change the game on their day. Bumrah didn’t play last year, he will be playing I feel he’s going to be a key player in this World Cup,” he added.
