Moeen Ali expected to be a doubt for IPL 2022 opener after Visa issues

England International Moeen Ali is reportedly a huge doubt for Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) opening clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26. The all-rounder is yet to receive clearance over his travel documents from the government.

All players are required to go through a customary three-day quarantine period upon reaching India. Ali is one of CSK’s most important players and was retained by the four-time champions after the IPL 2021.

Regarding the ongoing Visa situation with Moeen Ali, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan was quoted saying to Cricbuzz:

“He had applied for his visa on February 28. It has been more than 20 days since the application was submitted. He has been a frequent traveller to India and yet he has not got the travel papers. We are hoping he will join the team soon. He has told us that he will take the very next flight after getting the papers,”

The members of the CSK squad have already begun their preparation for the upcoming 2022 IPL with a training camp in Surat.

Moeen Ali played an instrumental role in CSK’s title-winning campaign in 2021. The all-rounder exhibited the ability to get settled in right away and played a series of cameos that steered the momentum of the contest.

The franchise will already be without the services of Deepak Chahar for the majority of the tournament. The pacer suffered an injury during the home series against West Indies, and as a result, was not selected for the subsequent set of matches against Sri Lanka.

They will play the opening match on March 26 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
